Katie + Kin (posted Saturday, October 28th, 2006 at 8:00 pm)

I just wanted to have a slightly self-indulgent chat about Katie + Kin. I have quite a lot of things on the go: films, books, web sites, none of which have yet been presented to any but a few select people, and it really makes me happy to think that I’ve got this regular comic strip on the internet, and - I think - it’s consistently not bad at all. It’s strange to think that there are only presently 17 strips online; it feels like I’ve been drawing it for years. I don’t know whether the reason Katie + Kin only have 13 LiveJournal friends (two of which are Rew) is because people aren’t interested in it, or people haven’t yet found it, or people are reading it on kinderskinley.com instead of LiveJournal. I’d really like to find out that it’s more popular than that, or to see more people friending it, because I think Katie + Kin is really, really nice.

I guess I just wanted to say - perhaps because I don’t too often get a chance to - that I’m proud of me.

It’s a cracking comic strip - wish there were more of them :)

/me shifties away

Hopefully we’ll have another one soon. Too much to do and not enough time essentially. We had recorded another a few weeks back, but I scratched it, as it was rubbish. Trying to get another one together now. Tbh, the problem is that I’m rubbish at the responsibility thing! It’s good fun to do the talking, but the being in charge is hard work (as I’m sure you know from experience…). So yeah … But I’m glad you like it. :)

You should be proud, it’s it’s great to read, but it may be kind of a niche at the moment.
I don’t know if you’ve tried “advertising” in forums of other webcomics or something like that. Surely there must be an “I’ve got a webcomic, come and lookit” LiveJournal community, or something similar. They may get at least a few people coming into look.
I know you have your own hosting, but maybe something like Comic Genesis - http://www.comicgenesis.com/ - as well may help you get traffic.
Or you could just badger people to put the “like having friends” pictures wherever possible?
Just some suggestions,
