Meet the cast
In chronological order of appearance

Kin

Kinders is both one of the two stars of Katie + Kin and the author of the same strip. Much of Katie + Kin is a document of the obstacles presented when one tries to draw the comic strip that oneself is already in.

Katie

Katie is Kin's cutie of a girlfriend, frequently (and understandably) baffled by the mechanisms of a comic strip drawn by one of its stars.

Puppy

The perpetually unnamed puppy was an eighteenth birthday present for Katie. Kin drew him into the strip, at first in the wrong colour; he is made of speech bubbles. Puppy makes occasional appearances in Katie + Kin, usually decidedly impassively.

The weather-telling widget

Katie drew the weather-telling widget into the strip, unaware that a widget is a gadget for the Apple Mac. The widget is, essentially, evil, and uses its weatherly skills only to aggravate its hosts. She is one of the numerous "sidelined characters" adamantly awaiting a return to the strip.

The Winter Ninja

The Winter Ninja "rushes from house to house, delivering gifts to cuties worldwide". Nobody knows the true identity of the Winter Ninja. Though he has been seen with all other cast members, Katie suspects that the Ninja employs stunt doubles, and is particularly suspicious that Kinders might be involved.

Edward

Kin's suffering brother. Edward never wanted to be made into a comic strip character, and the comic version is resultantly "neurotic and argumentative", nothing like the real Edward. He is the leader of the rebellious group of "sidelined characters" so desperate to be returned to fame in Katie + Kin.

Edward's first strip

Cat

Edward's beautiful bride.

Katie and Kin's therapist

Not the most effective therapist in practice: this fellow thinks that anything is acceptable for as long as it gives readers of the comic a chuckle. His "certificate of doctorhoodship" is dubious at best. Katie is not impressed.

Agents Black and Brown

Agents of the Comic Investigative Authority, employed to ensure that all is kept right and legal within the world of comic strips. Kin first encounters the agents when he uses his skills to improve the November weather...

St. Bernard

Created by guest-artist Barack Obama as a Christmas present for Katie and Kin.
