Katie + Kin documents the self-referential adventures of a comic strip artist and his long-suffering girlfriend. Over the course of 100+ strips (and counting), Kin slowly upgrades the comic that he and Katie live in, adding backgrounds, furniture, visual aids and characters, and occasionally even upgrading the stars themselves.
The strip began when I was wasting time with a title-making program for Adobe Premiere. A few colourful geometric shapes came together and I had Katie and Kin. The characters were too cute not to do something with them, and the comic was born. I was a few strips in before I realised that the comic was going to be about... well, the comic (I think strip #5 is the first in which that's pretty clear, although the punchlines in strip #1 and strip #3 come from the same overarching joke). Since then, it's pretty much written itself.
These days I draw Katie + Kin using ZeusDraw
